Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published as a complete article and is not currently under consideration by another journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx), OpenOffice, RTF, or WordPerfect document format.
- Where available, DOIs or URLs for the references have been provided.
- The manuscript has been prepared according to the official Jurnal Abdi Inovatif template, including the required font, spacing, margins, headings, tables, figures, and reference style.
- The manuscript complies with the stylistic, structural, and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines available in the About the Journal section.
- If the manuscript is submitted to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the authors have followed the instructions for Ensuring a Blind Review and have removed identifying information from the manuscript file as required.
- The authors have ensured that the submitted manuscript is original and does not contain plagiarism or unauthorized use of copyrighted material.
- The authors have obtained the necessary permissions for any copyrighted material, data, images, figures, or other third-party content included in the manuscript where such permission is required.
Author Guidelines
Jurnal Abdi Inovatif (JAI) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by Universitas Nusa Bangsa. The journal publishes scholarly articles reporting community service and community engagement activities involving the application, dissemination, and utilization of science, technology, arts, and professional expertise to address problems and improve the capacity and well-being of communities.
JAI welcomes manuscripts from various disciplines that demonstrate clear community needs, appropriate interventions, measurable outcomes, and meaningful contributions to community development.

A. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Abdi Inovatif must report community service or community engagement activities conducted within the last three years prior to submission.
2. The manuscript must be original and must not have been previously published in any journal, book, conference proceeding, website, or other publication.
3. A manuscript submitted to JAI must not be simultaneously submitted to another journal during the review and publication process.
4. The manuscript must comply with the journal's Publication Ethics policy and must not contain plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, or other forms of publication misconduct.
5. JAI conducts similarity screening as part of the initial editorial assessment. A similarity score is not considered evidence of plagiarism by itself. The editorial team evaluates the similarity report and the nature and sources of the similarities before making a decision.
6. Manuscripts that demonstrate substantial plagiarism or other serious publication misconduct may be rejected without further review.
7. Manuscripts must be prepared using the official JAI article template.
8. Manuscripts that do not substantially comply with the journal's formatting and structural requirements may be returned to the authors for technical revision before peer review.
9. Manuscripts may be submitted in Indonesian or English. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript is linguistically clear and suitable for academic publication.
10. The manuscript should normally consist of 10–15 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
11. Manuscripts should be prepared on A4 paper (210 × 297 mm) with the following margins:
• Top: 30 mm
• Bottom: 25 mm
• Left: 20 mm
• Right: 20 mm
12. Authors should follow the official JAI template for font, spacing, column arrangement, paragraph formatting, headings, tables, figures, and other technical requirements.
Important: The formatting specified in the official JAI template takes precedence over general formatting descriptions in this guideline.

B. ARTICLE TITLE, AUTHORS, AND AFFILIATIONS
1. Article Title
The title should be:
• concise;
• informative;
• specific;
• relevant to the community service activity;
• free from unnecessary abbreviations; and
• clearly representative of the main problem, intervention, or outcome.
The title should not normally exceed 12 words.
The title should be written in bold, centered, and formatted according to the official JAI template.
For manuscripts written in Indonesian, an English version of the title must also be provided.
The title should preferably identify the main intervention, target community, or major outcome rather than using overly general expressions.

2. Authors
Authors' names must be written without academic or professional titles.
The order of authors should reflect their actual contributions to the community service activity and preparation of the manuscript.
The first author should be listed first, followed by the other authors.
The corresponding author should be identified with an asterisk (*) and should provide a valid email address.
All authors must approve the submitted manuscript and agree to its publication.
Authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD in the OJS metadata where available.

3. Affiliations
The affiliation of each author should be stated clearly below the author's name.
The affiliation should include, where applicable:
• department or study program;
• faculty or institution;
• university or organization;
• city;
• province/state; and
• country.
The corresponding author's email address should be provided in the manuscript.
All author names, affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID iDs entered into OJS must correspond exactly to the information contained in the submitted manuscript.

C. MANUSCRIPT STRUCTURE
The manuscript should generally contain the following sections:
1. Title
2. Authors and Affiliations
3. Abstract
4. Keywords
5. Introduction
6. Implementation and Methods
7. Results and Discussion
8. Conclusion
9. Acknowledgments, if applicable
10. References
Additional subheadings may be used when necessary to improve clarity, particularly within the Implementation and Methods and Results and Discussion sections.
Subheadings should follow the formatting provided in the official JAI template.

D. ABSTRACT AND KEYWORDS
1. Abstract
The abstract should contain 150–300 words.
The abstract should briefly and clearly describe:
1. the background or community problem;
2. the objective of the activity;
3. the methods or approach used;
4. the main results or outcomes; and
5. the conclusion or implications of the activity.
The abstract should be written as one coherent paragraph.
The abstract should not contain:
• citations;
• tables;
• figures; or
• unexplained abbreviations.

2. Keywords
Each manuscript should contain 3–5 keywords.
Keywords should be:
• relevant to the manuscript;
• specific rather than overly general;
• preferably arranged alphabetically; and
• separated by semicolons (;).
For manuscripts written in Indonesian, keywords should be provided in Indonesian and, where required by the template, in English.

E. INTRODUCTION
The Introduction should provide a clear rationale for the community service activity.
It should include:
1. Situation Analysis
Describe the condition of the target community or partner using relevant information or supporting data.
2. Partner Problems or Needs
Clearly identify the problems, needs, limitations, or challenges faced by the community or partner.
The problem statement should be specific and, where possible, supported by relevant evidence.
3. Proposed Solution
Explain the intervention, innovation, technology, training, mentoring, or other approach proposed to address the identified problems.
4. Objectives and Expected Outcomes
State the objectives of the community service activity and the expected outputs or outcomes.
The Introduction should also explain the relevance and contribution of the proposed activity and, where appropriate, relate it to previous community service activities or relevant scholarly literature.

F. IMPLEMENTATION AND METHODS
This section should describe how the community service activity was planned, implemented, and evaluated.
The description should be sufficiently detailed to allow readers to understand the process and assess the appropriateness of the approach.
The section should include relevant information such as:
1. location of the activity;
2. implementation period;
3. target community or partner;
4. characteristics of the participants;
5. number of participants;
6. initial needs assessment;
7. materials, equipment, or resources used;
8. stages of implementation;
9. methods and approaches used;
10. training, mentoring, technology transfer, or other interventions;
11. evaluation methods; and
12. indicators of program success.
Where applicable, authors should explain how outcomes were measured, for example through:
• pre-test and post-test;
• questionnaires;
• interviews;
• observations;
• skill assessments;
• productivity measurements;
• participant satisfaction surveys; or
• other appropriate evaluation methods.
The methods should be consistent with the objectives and expected outcomes of the community service program.

G. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The Results and Discussion section is the main part of the manuscript.
1. Results
The Results should present the actual outcomes of the community service activity clearly and objectively.
Depending on the nature of the activity, results may include:
• improvements in knowledge;
• improvements in skills;
• changes in attitudes or practices;
• adoption of technology;
• development of products;
• improvement in productivity;
• improvement in institutional capacity;
• economic or social benefits;
• participant satisfaction;
• achievement of program targets; or
• other measurable outcomes.
Tables, figures, photographs, charts, or other visual materials may be used to support the presentation of results.
2. Discussion
The Discussion should interpret the results rather than simply repeat them.
The discussion should explain:
1. how the proposed intervention addressed the partner's problems;
2. the extent to which the objectives and success indicators were achieved;
3. the significance of the outcomes for the community or partner;
4. factors that supported implementation;
5. factors that hindered implementation;
6. comparison with relevant previous studies or community service activities; and
7. implications and opportunities for further development.
Claims concerning the success, effectiveness, or impact of a community service program must be supported by appropriate evidence.

H. TABLES, FIGURES, AND PHOTOGRAPHS
Tables and figures should be relevant to the manuscript and should be referred to in the text.
1. Tables
Table titles should be placed above the table and numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals.
Tables should be simple, clear, and readable.
Vertical lines should generally not be used. Horizontal lines should be used sparingly.
2. Figures and Photographs
Figure captions should be placed below the figure and numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals.
Figures, photographs, charts, and diagrams must have sufficient resolution and clarity for publication.
Photographs should contribute meaningful evidence of the implementation or outcomes of the community service activity.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that photographs or videos containing identifiable individuals have appropriate permission or consent for publication.

I. CONCLUSION
The Conclusion should provide a concise summary of the main outcomes of the community service activity.
It should directly address the objectives stated in the Introduction and should not merely repeat the Results section.
Recommendations may be included when they are directly supported by the results and are relevant to future development or implementation.

J. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Authors may acknowledge individuals, community partners, institutions, government agencies, funding organizations, or other parties that provided substantial assistance to the implementation or publication of the activity but do not qualify for authorship.
All sources of financial support should be disclosed appropriately.

K. REFERENCES AND CITATIONS
All references cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and all references listed must be cited in the manuscript.
Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference-management software such as:
• Mendeley;
• Zotero; or
• EndNote.
Jurnal Abdi Inovatif uses the APA 7th Edition citation and reference style.
Authors should prioritize relevant and authoritative scholarly sources, particularly peer-reviewed journal articles.
At least 80% of the references should preferably be from scholarly journal articles published within the last 10 years.
Older references may be used when they represent:
• foundational theories;
• established concepts;
• important methodologies;
• regulations;
• official policies;
• historical information; or
• other sources that remain relevant to the manuscript.
Each manuscript should contain at least 10 relevant references.
Authors should avoid:
• excessive self-citation;
• irrelevant citations;
• excessive citation of articles from a single journal; and
• citation practices intended primarily to manipulate citation metrics.

L. ETHICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES
Because Jurnal Abdi Inovatif publishes articles involving communities and partner organizations, authors must conduct their activities responsibly and respectfully.
Authors must:
1. respect the dignity, rights, privacy, culture, and interests of community members;
2. obtain appropriate permission from community partners or relevant institutions;
3. obtain informed consent when required;
4. protect personal and sensitive information;
5. take appropriate measures when working with vulnerable groups;
6. obtain appropriate permission for the publication of identifiable photographs, videos, interviews, or testimonials;
7. avoid activities that may cause unnecessary physical, psychological, social, or economic harm; and
8. report the implementation and outcomes of the activity honestly.
Authors must not fabricate or manipulate photographs, participant numbers, activity records, evaluation results, or claims of program success.
Further requirements are described in the JAI Publication Ethics policy.

M. PLAGIARISM AND ORIGINALITY
All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism and similarity screening.
Similarity reports are used as an editorial screening tool and are interpreted according to the context and sources of the identified similarities.
A high similarity score does not automatically constitute plagiarism, while plagiarism may exist even when the overall similarity score is relatively low.
Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated information, falsified data, or other serious forms of misconduct may be rejected.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all ideas, text, data, images, tables, and other materials obtained from other sources are appropriately acknowledged.

N. ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGE (APC)
Jurnal Abdi Inovatif applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 400,000 (four hundred thousand Indonesian Rupiah) per accepted article.
The APC applies only to manuscripts that have been accepted for publication following the journal's editorial and peer-review process.
There is no submission fee for submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Abdi Inovatif.
The APC covers publication-related costs, including editorial processing, peer-review administration, production, online publication, and maintenance of the journal's publishing platform.
The APC does not influence editorial decisions or the outcome of peer review.
Authors are not required to pay any fee before a manuscript has received an official acceptance decision.
Any changes to the APC or other publication charges will be announced transparently on the official Jurnal Abdi Inovatif website.
Authors who experience genuine financial difficulties may contact the editorial office to discuss the possibility of a fee waiver or reduction. Any waiver decision is handled separately from the editorial and peer-review process.

O. ONLINE SUBMISSION
All manuscripts must be submitted through the Jurnal Abdi Inovatif Open Journal System (OJS).
Step 1 – Registration
Authors must register an account on the JAI OJS platform.
Authors should provide accurate information, including:
• full name;
• institutional affiliation;
• email address;
• country; and
• ORCID iD, where available.
Step 2 – New Submission
After logging in, select New Submission.
The submission process consists of the following stages:
1. Start

4. Upload Supplementary Files, if applicable
5. Confirmation
Start
Select the appropriate journal section and complete the submission checklist.
Upload Submission
Upload the manuscript in the required Microsoft Word format using the official JAI template.
Enter Metadata
Enter complete and accurate information for:
• manuscript title;
• abstract;
• keywords;
• all authors;
• affiliations;
• email addresses;
• ORCID iDs, where available; and
• other required metadata.
The author information entered in OJS must be identical to the information in the manuscript.
Upload Supplementary Files
Where applicable, authors may upload:
• supporting data;
• questionnaires;
• research or evaluation instruments;
• permission or consent documents;
• activity documentation; or
• other relevant supplementary materials.
Confidential personal information should not be uploaded unless necessary and appropriately protected.
Confirmation
Review all submission information carefully and confirm the submission when all information is correct.
After submission, authors should regularly monitor the manuscript status through OJS and check the corresponding author's email.

P. AUTHOR DECLARATIONS
By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Abdi Inovatif, authors confirm that:

5. The reported community service activity was actually conducted.

9. Any relevant conflict of interest has been disclosed.
10. Funding and financial support have been disclosed where applicable.
11. The manuscript complies with the JAI Publication Ethics policy.
12. The authors accept responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the submitted work.

Q. USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Authors may use generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools for appropriate purposes such as language improvement, grammar correction, translation, editing, or formatting.
If AI tools are used to generate substantive content, analysis, interpretation, or other material beyond routine language correction, authors should disclose such use appropriately.
AI tools:
• cannot be listed as authors;
• cannot take responsibility for the manuscript;
• must not be used to fabricate or falsify data, results, photographs, references, or other content;
• must not be used to create misleading information; and
• do not replace the authors' responsibility to verify the accuracy and integrity of the manuscript.
Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted to Jurnal Abdi Inovatif.
Reviewers and editors should not upload confidential manuscript content to generative AI systems for substantive analysis or review.
